The 18th European Research Week on Geometric Graphs will take place in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, from the 4th to the 8th of September, 2023. This research workshop is intended to bring together international researchers working on geometric graphs and related topics to make progress on open questions and explore new research directions. The workshop will take place in the Colegio San Ildefonso, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the city center of Alcalá de Henares (close to Madrid). The workshop rooms (and the accommodation for most participants) are all inside this historic building of the University of Alcalá.

Travel & Weather
Alcalá de Henares can be easily reached via Madrid. If you arrive by plane to Madrid's main airport Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas you can take Bus 824 towards Torrejón de Ardoz and Alcalá de Henares. The bus runs every 40 minutes. In Alcalá you get off the bus just around the corner from the venue. The closest stop is called “Alcala, Via Complutense 24”. Be aware that the bus leaves from terminal 2 and stops at terminal 1 of the airport. Terminal 3 is in walking distance from either, but if you arrive to terminal 4 you have to take an airport bus or the metro to go from terminal 4 to terminals 1 or 2.
In case you arrive to Madrid's main train station Puerta Atocha you can take train C2 (towards Guadalajara) or C7 (towards Alcalá de Henares) and get off at “Alcalá de Henares”. For up to date timetables you can check the webpage of Renfe (Puerta Atocha is called Atocha in the list). The train station of Alcalá is at walking distance (10-15 minutes) from the workshop venue and acomodation.
If you prefer a taxi or you arrive outside the operating times of public transport, a standard taxi trip should take around 20-30 minutes and be around 30€. Uber and Cabify are also available in and around Madrid.
In September you can expect the maximum temperature in Alcalá to be 30° during the day and to cool down to just below 20° at night.
